A.    BACKGROUND

Bangka Belitung Province is a province in Indonesia that consists of two main islands; Bangka Island and Belitung Island which is followed by many little islands like Lepar Island, Pongok Island, Mendanau Island, Selat Nasik Island. The total islands are named more than 470 islands and only about 50 islands were lived. Bangka Belitung is located in east of Sumatra Island, it is near from Sumatera Selatan. Bangka Belitung is known as the tin producer, having a beautiful beaches and ethnics’ cooperation. The capital city of Bangka Belitung is Pangkal Pinang; it is legalized on February 9^th 2001 based on the constitution number 27 year 2000 about establishing of Bangka Belitung Island.

Bangka Belitung Province has territorial confine:

-          North with Natuna Sea

-          East with Karimata Straits

-          South with Java Sea

-          West with Bangka Straits

B.    GEOGRAPHY OF BANGKA BELITUNG

Geography Position

This province geography position is 1^o50’ – 3^o10’ LS and 105^o – 108^o BT.

Topology

Almost this province topology is low plain; valley and a little half are mount and hill. The level of low plain is 50 meters and high plain is 699 meters.

Earth Condition

Commonly in Bangka Belitung, it has PH or average under 5 is known as acid, but has high aluminum composition. Inside, composing some minerals like tin ore and entrenchment materials such as sand, coarse sand, granite stone, kaolin, tough land etc.

Hydrology

Lands and waters of Bangka Belitung are the unit of Sunda Shelf; the depth less than 30 meters. As the water province, Bangka Belitung has two kinds of water; open waters and semi open waters. This province also has several rivers like Baturusa, Buluh, Kotawaringin, Kampa, Layang, Manise and Kurau.

Flora

In Bangka Belitung is existed several fauna especially woods like meranti, bulin, kerengas. And other forest plants are Kapok, jelutung, pulai, gelam, meranti rawa, mentagor, mahang, mangrove, etc.

Fauna

The fauna of Bangka Belitung prefers same with Riau Island and Malaysia than Sumatera. Several fauna that can be found in Bangka Belitung like Deer, Beruk, Monkey, Lutung, Pig, Porcupine, mouse deer, eagle, forest rooster, Pelanduk, etc.

C.    TOURISM PLACES

Bangka Island is well known with its beautiful islands. Commonly, the beaches in Bangka are white sand and soft; and also colored as golden yellow like rice. These beaches are slopes slightly with approximately waves big that surrounded by unique volcanic stones. Some famed beaches in Bangka Island are:

-          Matras Beach                                - Tanjung Kerasak Beach

-          Tanjung Pesona Beach                  - Gunung Namak Beach

-          Rebo Beach                                   - Tanjung Kelian Beach

-          Batu Berdaun Beach                     - Tanjung Ular Beach

-          Pasir Padi Beach

Belitung Island has beautiful island also with white sand; unique view with original white sand beach that decorated by artistic granite stones. One of the best and unique beach in Indonesia, like:

-          Tanjung Kelayang                                     - Punai Beach

-          Tanjung Binga                                           - Tanyung Pendam Beach

-          Tanjung Tinggi                                          - Nyiur Melambai Beach

-          Lengkuas Island                                        - Burung Mandi Beach

D.    Conclusion

Bangka Belitung has many beautiful beaches with unique sand as white sand and golden yellow sand. All of them are as the best and unique beach in Indonesia. And they will become favorite tourism destination. The uniqueness makes Bangka Belitung as the famous with its wonderful and beautiful beaches. From whole beaches, I prefer to choose Tanjung Kelayang Beach for my holiday. It is very unique and beautiful beach with white sand and granite stones that surrounded the beach. The additional value is the underwater view with fish’s conservation. This beach is very nice that will attract the tourist to visit it.
